Digital Equity Advocacy 101

Log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

The Movement for Digital Equity needs your voice!!! At this workshop, experienced public interest policy advocates from Washington, DC, will train you to influence policymakers at the federal level. If you are concerned about the end of the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) or want the Federal Government to create permanent funding sources for ACP and your digital equity programming, then this workshop is where you can learn to impact and secure these policy wins. In three hours or less, advocates from Public Knowledge, Free Press, and NDIA will:
  • Hour One: You will learn about the current policy solutions to the ACP and permanent funding for the ACP low-income subsidy and digital equity organizations through reforming the Universal Service Fund and a new Digital Equity Fund.
  • Hour Two: You will learn about advocacy strategies for organizing in your community and how to execute the "art of the advocacy meeting" with Congressional staff and members. Unsure about if you're allowed to do these meetings because of your organization's 501(c)3 tax status? We will address this and other questions!
  • Hour Three: Practice what you have learned! You will work in groups to role-play real advocacy meetings... just like our experts do daily in DC.
The key to our movement's success is the knowledge and stories YOU have from your work on the ground. Join us for this training and become a more effective part of the digital equity movement!
